Jonathan's Wheels (Motor-scooter)

This is Jonathan - he is the most amazing kid - every mom says that, I understand. But, I've been told that, by many people that have had the opportunity to meet Jonathan. He is wise beyond his years. He can hold a conversation with most adults and have them walking away shaking their heads at how little they know.  



However Jonathan has also been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. www.mda.org  www.parentprojectmd.org  His prognosis has been very good; he's still mostly walking at age 16! Recently his endurance has slowed dramatically. To the point that after standing/walking for a short while, his muscles 'burn'.

This has been so difficult for us to realize it is time that he needs assistance.  We don't ever go places where he has to walk very far. That limits him so much! No theme parks, no church events, no community events (unless they are seated), no trips to the beach, no paintball with his friends, none of these.

Is Jonathan sad? Well I guess sometimes yes, it does get to him that he remains 'excluded' b/c of his disease. But we all make the best of it.

But now it's time to get him moving.........yes a power scooter is just what he needs! Not very expensive and will get him around for hopefully several more years.

Being a single mom raising 3 children, you can imagine we are spread very thin. But Jonathan needs this! I wish I could just order it online, right now, but I cannot. So I'm asking for help. If you can spare just a small amount - all of us together can make this happen!

Would you please consider helping me help Jonathan? I want him to have that freedom to move, even if his muscles don't cooperate. I want him to be able to 'go' with his friends, places he otherwise cannot.
