Jonathan Stanton's Fight Against ALS
Donation protected
Jonathan is the quintessential family man. Valerie, his wife of 15 years, and their three daughters, Maddie (14), Josie (12) and Harley (10) are his life’s love and focus. For anyone who has had the privilege to spend time with him at holiday gatherings, birthday parties, or at the many soccer fields, softball fields and basketball courts his daughters play on, you have witnessed him in all his joy.
Jonathan’s life journey was disrupted by a devastating diagnosis. In the Fall of 2020, Jonathan noticed changes in his right hand. A simple task like turning the key to start his truck became troublesome. After months of doctor appointments, tests, and bloodwork Jonathan, with Valerie by his side, received the gut-wrenching news, “You Have ALS.” The news came just weeks shy of his 40th birthday.
Jonathan is living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. When motor neurons are damaged, they stop sending messages to the muscles. There is no cure for ALS.
Jonathan has since undertaken various therapies and medications, none of which will cure this terrible disease, but are meant to help control his symptoms. His right hand is paralyzed and his left hand is becoming weak. His muscles in his arms and shoulders cramp and twitch and his feet and legs are weak and fatigued.
ALS will deprive his body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and ultimately, breathe. Living with ALS requires costly equipment and care. Jonathan, Valerie, Maddie, Josie, and Harley are the reason we are rallying together to heighten awareness and raise funds. Please support this cause and help ease the financial burden of the significant ALS treatment costs.
Jonathan is our family, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, coach. Jonathan is our hero. Please join us in supporting our hero and his family.
