Jonathan, Jonny, ‘J’ – depending on when you knew him, sadly passed away in a kitesurfing accident in Tiree, Scotland on Thursday 30th October 2025. It is evident that J was deeply loved by many people all over the world.

J will be in Scotland for a little while longer while the authorities carry out their investigations into his death. After that, we have the unenviable task of bringing him home, back to his beloved Cornwall.

It seemed fitting, therefore, that this should be as a ‘last flight’ after a long and distinguished career in Aviation. My wonderful colleagues at Skybus want to make this happen, and are planning this special journey to bring him home, including a Fire Service Guard of Honour for his departure.

I would like to raise money for 3 causes.

-To Skybus to fund the fuel. It is a such a small company, and a trip like this will have a large impact both financially and operationally. Their generosity to us is overwhelming.

-To donate to Penhaligon’s Friends; a Cornish charity that supports bereaved children. It’s a charity that our daughter will directly benefit from as she navigates her life without her wonderful ‘dada’.

-We would like to lay J to rest in a very special place, overlooking the sea where he kite-surfed; in a cemetery that the family can have easy access to. Even though it is very close to home, it is ‘out of area’ meaning we have to make our case to the Town Council. Should we be successful, the costs will be significantly higher.
