Jonathan Miller's Medical Care
Donation protected
Our brother Jon was born with gastroschisis 36 years ago. He spent the first 2-1/2 years of his life in the hospital, has been in and out of the hospital since then, and has endured over 30 operations. He was left with only 3 feet of intestines, which resulted in short gut syndrome. Despite all of these obstacles, he received his MBA at the age of 25, and has worked since the age of 15. He relied on TPN, (IV feedings) for 26 years to keep him alive. He was tired of the complications that went along with TPN and 10 years ago discontinued it even though his doctor gave him only 2 months to live. Miracles happen...he lived. It has been a challenging and difficult 10 years trying to stay alive. September was a difficult month for Jon and he experienced a major setback in October which required a 4 week hospitalization. He has been out of work since September and presently has no return date. He will be out of work for at least another 2-3 months and quite possibly longer. We just don't know. Jon never complains, always has a smile on his face, but his life is filled with uncertainty and extreme physical pain. His future is filled with a lot of unknowns. His medical situation is extremely rare and complex. He lives day to day not knowing what the next day may bring. We are in the midst of researching medical treatments outside of Rhode Island and he needs help with the associated costs. If you know Jon, then you know what an amazing person he is to everyone. He is the first one to offer help to anyone in need. God bless you for any amount that you can give. Thank you!
