Hello friends, family, and coworkers of Jonathan Margolis.

We are saddened to share that Jonathan passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23rd. A 46-year old native of Dallas, Texas, Jonathan lived and worked in Los Angeles for close to 20 years, amassing friends everywhere he went. Everyone who met Jonathan connected to his strong spirit and was made better for it. Jonathan was filled with emotional intelligence, an incredible human who spread positivity and was an advocate for anyone needing support who crossed his path. The most recent love of his life was his dog Dolly, a cuddlebug pittie who never left his side -- nor he hers. Jonathan was preceded in death by his Father, Elliott Margolis, and is survived by his Mother, Dalphine Shutes of Arizona, Sister Michelle Hallam of New York State, and Brother-in-Law Dallas Hallam, also of New York State. Jonathan was also the beloved Guncle of Walker, 11, and Wyatt, 10.

Please join us in supporting the family financially during this time as they gather to close Jonathan’s Los Angeles affairs and strive to honor his life in the way he would have wanted. Jonathan’s beloved dog Dolly is in the process of finding a home with a dear friend of the family. Not only does it give us peace to know Dolly will be taken care of, but we are so happy that she is staying in Jonathan’s friend-family.

The family will share details of Jonathan’s Celebration of Life as soon as they become available. In the meantime, please join us in sharing your heartwarming, hilarious, or even scandalous stories of Jonathan here on GFM (or by posting on Jonathan’s memorial Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/191977020241125). We are comforted in these dark days by your love for Jonathan. ❤️

Sending love,

Family of Jonathan Margolis and Management of Blue Plate Oysterette (Jonathan’s longtime work family)
