                                                                            Noah Long

Hello friends and colleagues...

It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to you all and share some tragic news about our friend and Woodshop family member Jonathan Long. Just over a week ago, two gunmen killed Jonathan’s 20-year-old son Noah, down in San Diego. It seems he was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. There is an ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made yet. Jonathan and Noah had been communicating regularly, re-connecting, sharing favorite bands, and making plans for Noah to work as a PA with Woodshop when production re-opened. I can’t even begin to imagine the devastation he is feeling, and I’ve been trying to come to terms with figuring out a way to help Jonathan through this tragedy and into the future.

Since I’ve known Jonathan he’s always had a dream to own a Sprinter camper van. As some of you know, Jonathan enjoys the “van life” and his van is literally his home most of the time. I thought I’d start this gofundme campaign to raise money to get Jonathan a new van. I realize this is probably the worst time in recent history to be asking people for money, but this is an unimaginable life altering circumstance. My hope is that we can raise enough money to get him a new van, or at least a nice down payment on one. The van would be a symbol to him of all the love and support we feel for him. He would be reminded of that every time he drives it, camps in it, or tailgates at the beach in it. I spoke with Jonathan a couple of days ago for about forty minutes, and he mentioned wanting to take a road trip after Noah’s memorial which was on this past Saturday. That’s when I had this idea that he could take off in a new kick ass reliable vehicle. He’d hit the open road and find some sort of new beginning, and maybe some peace through all the madness he’s been experiencing.

Maybe it’s a crazy idea, but I knew I had to do something, as Jonathan has been a great friend to me. He has always been working on growing as a person, as a crewmember, and being positive to those around him. He’s a great man, and I hope we can all create some positive energy that he can feed off of. If you can’t afford to send any money, please send Jonathan an email and just let him know you’re thinking of him. He just needs to know he’s not alone at this challenging time.

Thank you all for your time, I miss you all, and hopefully we’ll all see each other soon.

Love,
Brian Huston
