Hey everyone,
My name is Hailey. I’m Tiffany’s daughter in law. She was married to Jonathan who peacefully passed away on the morning of April 16th. We are all sleep deprived and emotionally exhausted, but I’m attempting to write this so no one else has to. We are appreciative of everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
Here’s the story:
Jon went in to the ER on Sunday April 14th after having a few respiratory symptoms and just not feeling “right”. They began testing him for all the things and thought it may be pneumonia and possibly a mini heart attack.
The hospital staff originally wanted to keep him until Tuesday. However, after the doctors recieved chest scan results on Monday, he was immediately rushed to another hospital to get emergency open heart surgery due to congestive heart failure at the young age of 41.
The lining of his aorta detached from the outer wall and his aortic heart valve was not functioning as it should. They started operating around 5:45pm.
First, they had to get him hooked up to the bypass, then they would be able to operate on his heart. And they did just that! They had to replace a valve and repair the many tears to his heart. It was a long eight hour process but they got it done. Things were looking hopeful. Until they weren’t.
The doctor came down and told us they were trying to get him weaned off of bypass. However, Jon’s lungs were not strong enough to keep his body going without assistance. At this point we were asking for a miracle.
It wasn’t over yet. There was still a chance. So we prayed, paced around, and cried. for another two hours.
At that point the Chaplin came over to us after talking with a nurse from the operating room. He told us it was not looking good, but that Jon wasn’t gone yet. There was nothing we could do but wait for the next update.
The doctors came out and walked over to us. The surgeon shook his head and said he was sorry.
Jon was gone. He didn’t make it.
He passed away at 2:35am just 10 hours after the start of the surgery.
At this time, Tiffany and her six children need all the assistance they can get. Jon was the main financial provider leaving the family with medical bills, funeral expenses, regular living expenses, and more.
If you are unable to donate, please pray for the family to have the strength we need to get through this.
Thankyou all for your support.
