My name is Jonas, I am 20 years old and a junior at Central Michigan University. I am female-to-male transgender, and I am trying to raise money for top surgery.
I have suffered from gender dysphoria my entire life, which makes my day-to-day life very difficult. I have been using testosterone patches since August of 2019, and I would like to move forward in my treatment, in order to become the person I was always meant to be.
I currently use transtape underneath a chest binder to bind my chest every day, which can be detrimental to my health. FTM top surgery is the removal of breast tissue, which would mean I would be free to stop binding and be more comfortable in my body. Because of my dysphoria, I have a very hard time doing everyday tasks like showering, changing my clothes, and going out in public. Transition is currently the only effective treatment for gender dysphoria, which means this is a necessary step in my treatment. I hope to be able to schedule a surgery date before 2021.
I have been struggling financially due to the pandemic. I know others are as well, so I am not expecting this fundraiser to fully cover the cost of my procedure. Every dollar is greatly appreciated, and if you are not able to donate, I would really appreciate sharing the link to this page on social media. We are currently living in a frightening time, where healthcare providers and insurance companies can turn down patients simply for being transgender. I stand with my trans brothers, sisters, and non-binary siblings, and ask that you support them in any way you can.
