Providing Care for Jonah and the Hart Family

There will be many financial expenses over the next weeks and months. We hope to provide for the Hart’s needs so that their focus can be on their sacred family space.

Hello. My name is Amber McCann and, together with a community of friends, we are fundraising to equip a home gym for Jonah Hart.

On September 3rd, while at a University of Michigan football game with Chris and his friend, Jack, Jonah experienced a seizure. The next few days were a blur of evaluations, scans, and questions and wrapped up in a diagnosis that no one imagined: Jonah has an aggressive malignant tumor in his brain.

In the time since, the Harts have had their world turned upside down with doctors, appointments, treatment, and scans. The good news is that, at this time, the tumor has not grown significantly from its initial evaluation and, most days, Jonah feels good and is able to be at school and participate in all of his regular activities and socializing.

We know that, for many of you, this is the first you are hearing of Jonah’s diagnosis and treatments. Navigating how to share news and updates about someone who has his own autonomy and right to privacy is vitally important. Working out has become both a passion and an escape for Jonah. Together with his best friends, Korey and Jack, hours are spent strengthening their bodies and their friendship. While they all find time to attend various gyms, Jonah wants a space where he and his friends can work out together, in the Hart’s home. This is important now, and will be even more so in the future.

So, the “GET JONAH A GYM” project was born.

Already, loved ones have come together to clear out the garage, organize, repair, and paint the walls, do flooring, and create a mural to make the space just what Jonah wants and needs.

We are seeking $20,000 to fully renovate and equip this home gym in the Hart’s garage. This will include improvements such as a new garage door as well as exercise equipment and storage.

Any additional funds raised will go towards care and travel expenses as Jonah, Chris, Lorien, and Abby work together to fight this cancer.

The Harts have shown up for their own community time and time again. It’s our turn. Will you help?
