Jon Workman Flood Recovery Fund

I live north of Lock & Dam 5 on the Arkansas River near Wright.  This home is my everything and although I vowed to fight the river with all I am, last Friday the water rose to a level that broke all records since the McClellen-Kerr Navigation system has been in place and it just became too dangerous to stay.  

When we left on Friday morning the water was rushing through my yard perpendicularly to the river as it overtook a lake behind our homes as well and forced the flood directly through our yard causing Class 3 rapids.  To leave we had to shuffle our feet across the ground in 3-4 foot deep water just to keep from falling and being swept into the river which has a flow of 500,000 cubic feet per second.  

I have a undeniable faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and I have confidence we will rise from this just as the Phoenix did from the ashes.  My girlfriend and I (Helen Hillis) were able to escape with out harm to ourselves or my labradors and for that I am incredibly thankful.  

During my life I have been in the Northridge, California earthquake, awoken at 2:45 a.m. to evacuate within 15 minutes due to forest fires, been in numerous tornadoes while living in Arkansas and battled & beat bone marrow cancer.  This is truly the most devastating of all but with good friends and hard work we will be back on our feet soon.  This too shall pass and should be seen as a way to test our faith in helping one another.  

I was very reluctant to post a GoFundMe page but I have to put my ego aside and ask for your help.  With that being said, I sincerely appreciate any contribution made toward my efforts to rebuild my home.
