Hello, everyone. I am Missy Taschler Fail, most of you know me as Jon Taschler’s little sister. As some of you may know, my brother suffers from a neurological disorder that has impaired his ability to walk and balance for years. Unfortunately, he contracted Covid on December 5, and his condition worsened. Although he initially showed signs of recovery, on January 2, he had to be urgently taken to the ER due to weakness and swelling in his legs. It was there that we discovered he had liver failure and excessive fluid in his body. After spending 16 days in the hospital, he lost his mobility and now has to rely on a wheelchair.

Jon was subsequently transferred to a rehabilitation facility. However, on February 2, the insurance company denied coverage for his stay, claiming insufficient progress. Despite three appeals, their decision remain unchanged. Jon returned home on February 15, still unable to walk. His situation is concerning, and there’s a possibly it could be neurological. Although he can stand up, he struggles to move his right foot forward. This has been an incredible challenge for him, Karen and our family.

To alleviate some of the stress and financial burden, I’ve created this GoFundMe page. My brother and his wife are wonderful people, and if you know Karen, you’re aware of her kind-hearted and giving nature, as well as how many charity’s she has given her time and effort to. I aim to raise $10,000 to help Jon continue his physical therapy, cover medical cost, purchase necessary equipment, and improve his quality of life and get him back on his feet again.
