Hello Family and Friends,
A terrible thing has happened to my Son and Daughter in Law. They sold their home in South Philadelphia early this month and are closing on a new home in South Jersey at the end of September. They decided to stay with Lauren’s parents for a few short weeks and brought only a handful of clothing and personal items with them for this short stay.
They packed the entire contents of their three-bedroom home and put it in a nearby storage unit. With their love of all things vintage and their excitement for their new home they had also begun hand picking pieces from antique shops and flea markets and putting these items in storage for move in day. Early this week Lauren and Jon received an unbelievable call from their storage facility. They were notified that an eviction moving company mistakenly came to their storage unit and sawed the lock off thinking it was one of their units. They removed the entire contents of the storage unit into a dump trailer and brought it to a landfill. This happened almost a week before Jon and Lauren were notified, so there was no hope of salvaging anything. They have lost everything they owned…clothing, furniture, beds, kitchen items, irreplaceable antiques and sentimental items and even Jon and Lauren’s extensive record collection that they treasured so dearly. The excitement of moving into their forever home has been crushed as they are now left with nothing to move into their home with.
While we have exploring all necessary avenues (insurance, police reports, attorney representation) to be sure Jon and Lauren are eventually made whole again by those responsible, we are asking for help for them in the meantime so they and their three dogs can get settled in their new home as soon as possible.
Any help you can give, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine, they are devastated.
