For more than 35 years, Jon Hauberg has been part of the Deceuninck family.

As Director of Product Research & Development, Jon has devoted his career to innovation, problem-solving, mentorship, and helping build a company and industry he cares deeply about. His colleagues know him as a trusted expert, a loyal teammate, and someone whose knowledge and commitment have left a lasting impact far beyond Ohio and throughout the global Deceuninck organization.

But Jon's story extends far beyond his career.

He is a devoted husband of nearly 33 years to his wife, Deb. He is a proud father of four adult children, three engineers and an industrial designer. He is an avid cyclist, outdoorsman, musician, mentor, church volunteer, and lifelong supporter of countless youth activities.

Anyone who knows Jon knows he rarely sits still.

When he isn't solving problems, he is usually riding a bicycle, hiking a trail, camping, kayaking, singing, attending a sporting event, helping someone with a project, or planning the next adventure.

Just one week before his accident, Jon completed one of his most ambitious personal accomplishments: cycling the entire Ohio-to-Erie Trail from Cleveland to Cincinnati, covering 326 miles across the state of Ohio.

That ride reflected who Jon has always been: determined, optimistic, active, and always moving forward.

Then, on October 4, everything changed.

While attending the University of Cincinnati Family Weekend football game with his wife and son, Jon suffered a devastating fall that resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple skull fractures.

What followed has been a journey no family could have imagined.

Jon underwent emergency brain surgery and spent weeks in intensive care. As he fought to recover, he faced additional complications, including a serious brain infection that required another surgery and months of intensive treatment. The infection delayed reconstruction of his skull and led to a prolonged hospitalization and rehabilitation process.

Since that day, Jon has endured multiple surgeries, lengthy hospitalizations, intensive inpatient rehabilitation, home therapies, ongoing neurological care, and countless medical appointments.

Yet through it all, he has continued to display the resilience and determination that have defined his entire life.

His therapists often comment on his persistence. His family continues to see glimpses of the same sarcastic humor, quick wit, and easygoing personality that have always made Jon who he is. He still follows Bearcats sports, still talks about the Reds, and still manages to make the people around him smile.

Today, Jon requires a wheelchair, extensive assistance with daily activities, and ongoing therapy. He continues to work hard every day toward regaining strength, mobility, and independence.

His recovery remains uncertain and will likely continue for years.

Adding to these challenges, Jon's wife Deb was diagnosed with breast cancer during his recovery and has undergone surgery and treatment while simultaneously serving as his primary caregiver and advocate.

The financial realities of this journey continue to grow. Expenses include ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, specialized transportation, caregiving support, accessibility needs, medical equipment, and the many unforeseen costs that accompany a life-changing injury.

Despite these challenges, Jon and Deb have never faced this journey alone.

They have been supported by family, friends, church members, neighbors, coworkers, healthcare professionals, and communities across Ohio and beyond. They have experienced extraordinary acts of kindness from people who have walked beside them every step of the way.
