Jon Dee Graham Zipper Neck Fund

Hey y’all, as you know our pal Jon Dee Graham took a frightening spill when he had a (fortunately survivable) stroke back in the Summer of 2022. When he fell his vertebrae were severely compacted, limiting his mobility considerably. In fact, he cracked his c-2 vertebrae and pinched his spinal cord. It was described by his doctor as having sciatica throughout his entire body.

Obviously, this led to some considerable misery and debilitating pain which has very recently been addressed through a 6 hour surgery which essentially rebuilt his cervical spine. To better describe the folks that made Jon Dee’s surgery happen, we asked him directly for some insight, quoted here:

From Jon Dee: “Wow. WowWow. I’ve got the best friends on earth. This makes me weepy. YES! Dr. John Stokes, neurosurgeon at Ascension Spine and Scoliosis…because my injury was catastrophic and had been allowed to drag on for over a year without proper diagnosis, my surgery was long and complex; Dr. Stokes was an assassin, a neurosurgical ninja…I feel so lucky that he was available and interested in my care. My surgery was 7-8 hrs long. Many of my scarier symptoms are improving already, and while it’s a long game my prognosis is good for recovery over the next 18 months.”

As you can see, our buddy had and continues to receive great care. And of course it’s costly. So to coincide with our benefit concert/hoot night at the Hole in the Wall on May 11th, we’ve set up this funder to help the Lege in his long road to full recovery.

Thanks for considering this cause and hopefully we will “See you by the fire” along with Jon Dee Graham very soon!
