Jon broke a leg! (again)

On Saturday, February 22nd, while taking my daughter out for pizza, I slipped on ice and caught my leg funny while falling. Both my tibia and fibula snapped just above the ankle. I am currently (March 5th) in an external fixator which is holding the bones in place while we wait for swelling in the leg to decrease enough to perform reparative surgery. Once that surgery happens, I am told I'll be off the leg an additional 9-12 weeks minimum.

I waited to post this as I was hoping to hear good news from my company regarding medical leave. Unfortunately, the contract for my job I've been at over 5 years was lost by my previous employer in December, and while I still have that job, my benefits all reset with the new company and I am not yet eligible for medical leave and have no PTO in the bank. I do have insurance, so a good portion of my medical bills will be taken care of, but I'll still need to pay the deductible and will have no income for the next approximately 3 months.

So many people poured out their love and support last time I had a leg messed up, I hate to ask it of you again, however, I got both legs now, so I’m hoping I can be done breaking them! Thank you all!
