Hello and thank you for your time and possible support. On 12-18-19 at work, as a Special Education teacher who specializes in Vocational Education, I fell
through a school’s greenhouse roof while we were in the process of dismantling and trying to salvage for future use. Falling backwards from 8-10’ from a stand- ing position, I landed striking the top left side of my head on a concrete sidewalk. We’d figure I had been unconscious for a minimum of 30 minutes. A colleague
walking by heard my voice calling out to him. He called 911. Besides my head
injury, I also sub stained a broken collarbone, a broken rib, compressed fractured L1 and 15 staples to the top of my head to stop the bleeding.
My collarbone was fixed with an anchor and plate, my ribs have healed and sta-
ples have been removed from my head. I have an appointment for my L1 and
head trauma coming up next month at UC, Davis Spine Center with a surgeon
who who had operated on my broken neck injury.
Currently my main concern is my head injury. Prior to my accident I’ve led a very active and fitness oriented lifestyle with cycling, kayaking, hiking, the gym, build-ing projects including all phases of construction and landscaping including
service projects through church and different opportunities. Even though I have complications from breaking my neck, I find that no reason to stop training. It's
all in moderation.
Since my last accident my balance has increasingly diminished giving me pro-
blems with balance while changing body positions or levels, or even getting up
from a seated position, looking up and unfortunately, the list continues to grow. I still ride the stationary bike and have regularly gone to the gym to work legs,
abs, back and my right side of upper body. My injuries will still not allow me to
use the left side of my upper body.
After much investigation and research I have found The Revive Treatment
Center of America which focuses on Neuroplasticity, also known as brain
plasticity is the ability of the brain to change continuously throughout an indivi- dual's life. This allows our brains to recover and will make a difference in my
balance, motor and neurological functioning deficits substained from my acci-
dent.
I’m asking for your help by both praying and financially helping me to afford
treatment at the Revive Treatment Center of America. I have researched and
investigated to find the very best services available to help me in my recovery.
Unfortunately my Worker's Compensation or Medical will not cover any of the
above. I will still need to earn additional money to get the very best treatment I can receive. So thank you for joining me on this journey.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jon A. Nickerson
