Jolo’s Road2Recovery 250mile Charity Cycle Challenge
Donation protected
Tackling the 250 mile route across the whole of Wales along the Lon Las Cymru. The guidebook recommends 4-7 days to get it done, so in true Jolo style I’m going to tackle it in 24 hours for the craic.
In November this year I had a c5/6 disc replacement after struggling with constant pain in my neck and shoulder for over 5 years. The operation was a complete success and I can’t put into words how grateful I am to all of the staff at the Queen Elizabeth hospital for the care I received.
After such a big operation it was key to do the rehab properly. Whilst lifting, running and anything outdoorsy was off limits, I was cleared for after 4 weeks was pretty much unlimited indoor cycling. Me being me , decided to make the most out of a difficult situation and came up with the idea of a ultra cycling challenge , to get me back on track and in some small way try and give back to those at the hospital who work tirelessly under tough conditions to get people back to full health.
I’m therefore raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, which supports a variety of funds throughout the hospital, across every ward and department; refurbishing facilities, funding vital research, and purchasing new equipment to help maintain the high standards of care delivered by staff across the hospital.
Hopefully this journey serves as a testament to the possibilities that lie within each of us when we set our minds to achieving extraordinary goals and to show that the obstacles im life really do form the path (or road in this case). Life will always throw you some lemons, the choice is yours to turn bitter or get zesty!
