I am Angelica Pawłowski-Bratu, daughter of Jolanta Pawłowski starting a fund raising campaign for my mother.
On morning of August 28th she felt some numbness and tingling in her face and thought she was having a stroke, in true Jola fashion she drove herself to the hospital. After imaging and tests were completed we found out she had the most devastating diagnosis, a IDH wildtype glioblastoma which is an extremely aggressive brain cancer. Unfortunately there is no cure but with aggressive chemo and radiation life extension is the goal.
As Las Vegas does not have the specialists needed for her care we are seeking treatment outside of Las Vegas. Because these services and travel expenses are not covered by our insurance, we are facing significant out-of-pocket medical costs. There are also clinical trials at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City where we would ideally see if she would qualify.
Jola has always been an integral part of the Polish community, giving her time, heart, and energy to countless events. She is often the first to volunteer, whether it’s cooking for festivals, helping with community gatherings, or simply being there to support those around her. She truly shares her love by cooking and as a way to honor our mom and share a little piece of her with others, we are putting together a cookbook filled with some of her favorite recipes. We hope this book will bring people the same comfort and joy that her cooking has brought our family over the years. Goal is to finish it as soon as possible and we will update you once available.
All proceeds from the cookbook, as well as donations made through this page, will go directly toward her medical care and the expenses associated with seeking treatment outside of Las Vegas. If there are any funds remaining after her medical expenses are covered, we will donate them to glioblastoma research at Huntsman Cancer Institute or other research institutions working to find better treatments and, one day, a cure for this devastating cancer.
Any donation, no matter the amount, means more to our family than we can put into words. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing her story and keeping our mom in your thoughts and prayers means just as much to us. ❤️
