Little JoJo was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy earlier this month and we're working through it but could really use some help!
I budgeted out for about a year and it looks like JoJo's medical care is going to be an extra $4,500. For a snapshot of expenses: an echocardiogram is $475 (she needs two this year), one of her meds is $103 per bottle at Costco, and any of her routine check ups are $55.
Any help is really appreciated! Some folks have already reached out unprompted (thank you!!!) and I could use some more help. (venmo is @Mollie-Overby if that works better)
Sappy stuff: I love JoJo so so so much and I try really hard to give her a good life. Before, that meant going on hikes, skijoring in the winter, walks, playdates, cuddles (so many cuddles), and romping around in the yard. Now it means slowing down. A lot. We're adjusting and she's still wonderful and can join me while running errands or just sitting in a coffee shop. Severe cardiomyopathy means her heart is enlarged and has a hard time pumping blood which also causes fluid to pool in her lungs. So she's on a diuretic which also means cleaning up a few accidents around the house.
(I've researched all the stuff about grain free food and she is now eating grainful food! She didn't have a taurine deficiency but still. I'm trying everything possible to help her heart!)
Okay so maybe you've thought about an amount. Cool! Thank you! And I welcome you to halve that amount and split it between JoJo and one of these groups:
-Real Rent Duwamish (esp if you like in Seattle area) https://www.realrentduwamish.org/
-Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network https://www.patreon.com/TransWOCSolidarityNW
JoJo is very important and I love her and at the same time there are humans esp indigenous folks and trans women of color who have needed $ before Jo and will after Jo.
Thanks for reading :) And for giving JoJo pets and loving whenever you see her. <3
