Hi friends. My name is Josh Lewis and I perform with and manage a rock band named “Joint Operation”, based out of Baltimore, MD. The band and I have spent the last 4+ years revolving our lives around this group. Touring and playing live music in about every club/bar/DIY space that would book us in the midwest and mid-atlantic. Hitting numbers like 150+ shows a year. Most of the money we have ever made has gone directly back into this project to keep it alive. After one year of practically no shows, and putting all saved money/income/personal funds into our second album, we are left empty walleted.
While out playing some solo private gigs in the OH/PA area a few weeks back, the van’s transmission began to slip. This left us (Carl and I) going 40 MPH on the PA turnpike, hoping just hoping, it would somehow catch and we could make it to the show that evening. Luckily, we did. Little did we know, that would be the last time the transmission ever caught.
Thankfully, we made it to the show. The van transmission was done for, and our van was now officially broken down 400+ miles from home. After calling every repair shop within 25 miles and finding out they were all booked up for the next two weeks, we had to come up with some type of solution. Leaving us with a long, expensive, unexpected but necessary tow back to Baltimore. Here we took the van to the dealership we bought it from, to recieve all the proper service, all while still being able to work my job as a server and not having to sit around for 2 weeks in the southern Pitt/WV area.
A few days ago, we finally got a diagnosis and a price for the service. The van needs a whole new transmission from GM (which makes sense because we put 175,000+ miles on it in the last 2-3 years alone). As touring musicians, the idea of a van break down is never IF its going to happen, its WHEN. Its never good but it is a part of the lifestyle.
Touring is finally a thing again, and we cannot wait to bring the circus to your city this summer. We have plenty of killer shows booked, and we are more than ready to bounce back. We are just missing the one key aspect, the van.
We would be lying if we said that this situation hasn’t set us back significantly financially. And we know times are tough for everyone. If you can spare a dime, that would be dope. If you can throw our music on a little bit more often, that would be sick. If you could cop a shirt, amazing. Anything and everything helps right now. We plan to do a few "donator only" merch drops, mp3's, and live-streams in the near future.
We hope you all understand, and soon once we are back out there we can give you all the night out you deserve.
Much love, thanks family.
