NDFS joins TEAM CANADA in Egypt 2022!

In March 2019 the world changed forever due to COVID-19. Children and youth faced new challenges more so than any other generation. Despite the hurdles, Helene Lemmen, Julianna Watt, Ava Seca, Natalie Alford, and Addison Gray relied heavily on the ongoing instruction and comradery of their instructors and team members at the Niagara Dance & Fitness Studio (NDFS) in Beamsville. This enabled them to stay competitive and in 2022 it unlocked possibilities beyond their expectations. These five dancers received the most significant honour of a Golden Ticket, no audition necessary, to join Team Canada. This is the Olympics of Dance!
Helene, Julianna, Ava, Natalie, and Addison train five days per week as members of the NDFS Competitive Team and compete in four-yearly competitions. Each dancer has received consistent recognition from elite adjudicators winning scholarships and top overall awards. In May 2022, a talent scout from Team Canada Dance/IDO Canada selected these five NDFS dancers to represent Canada in the World Ballet & Jazz Championships to be held in Egypt in November 2022. This team will compete against 90 nations representing over 250,000 dancers from six continents. Of the 24 dancers chosen for the Ballet Canada East team, NDFS is sending dancers that will comprise over 20% of the team. This is a tremendous accomplishment for any studio!
To make this possible, these dancers are aiming to raise $25,000 collectively to offset the cost of entry fees, costumes, choreography, rehearsal space and travel fees.
Receiving the Golden Ticket to join Team Canada Dance is a rare opportunity. This is a once-in-a-lifetime honour to represent Canada on the world stage. Helene, Julianna, Ava, Natalie, and Addison hope you can help them step onto the podium as Gold Medal winners!
