# Restoring the True Meaning of Christ’s Church: A Call to Biblical Fellowship

The Greek word *ekklesia*, which we translate as “church,” doesn’t refer to a building, denomination, or institutional organization. It means “called-out assembly”—a community of believers gathered together in authentic fellowship.

Similarly, the New Testament word *koinonia*, often translated simply as “fellowship,” describes something far deeper than social gatherings or coffee after service. It represents intimate spiritual community—believers sharing life together, supporting one another materially and spiritually, and living as the unified body of Christ.

## What Scripture Actually Shows Us

When we look at Acts 2:42-47, we see the early believers:

- Devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching

- Shared deep fellowship (*koinonia*)

- Broke bread together in homes

- Prayed together regularly

- Held all things in common

- Cared for each other’s needs

- Met in homes, not elaborate buildings

This wasn’t organized religion as we know it today—it was authentic, Spirit-led community living out the love of Christ together.
