Join Wilborn's Fight and Support His Family

Wilborn Rives, a man of faith and a heart full of love needs our help. Wilborn’s life’s focus has been his faith, his family, and his deep love for all humankind.
He and his family need our prayers and our support. As we know with life, circumstances come our way and we are never truly prepared. One Sunday, 9 weeks ago, Wilborn preached and spent the day with his family. They began to notice that Wilborn seemed a bit confused and had a hard time processing thoughts. The family urged him to go to the ER. He was diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma brain tumor. Statistically, life expectancy is 12-18 months with treatment.
As we know the love Wilborn has for his family, and they have for him, it was without question that he would do the 30 day chemo and radiation treatment. In true Wilborn fashion, 5 days a week, he got up every morning and a family member took him to Winston Salem for treatment. With his “let’s go, we got this” attitude, he handled treatment well. He began to show signs of fatigue and weakness but never took a second thought about stopping treatment. After 27 treatments, his platelets and WBC began to drop.
Wilborn was admitted to Baptist hospital after fainting and having a fall 4 weeks ago. As of today, he is still battling low platelets and WBC along with being in and out of AFIB. This all has him extremely weak and tired. He also continues to have some cognitive issues from the tumor. Please note: Wilborn rang the bell on April 9th completing this regime of radiation as weak as he is!!!
The family will be making some decisions in the next few days as to what their next step will be—skilled nursing, hospice, or home. As you can imagine these last few months have taken a toll on his family emotionally, mentally, physically and financially. With your prayers and support, we can help relieve some of their burden.
No donation is ever too small. It will help the family in making decisions as to what type of care they can afford going forward. Your donation will also help their current medical expenses, their travel, daily expenses and monthly household expenses.
The family requests your prayers and your love first and foremost.
As Wilborn’s community of family and friends, we stand with him and say “yea baby, let’s go, we got this!”
Speaking for the family, I know they have sincere appreciation for anything you can give during their journey. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
