Join Wendy's Fight for Recovery and Healing

As most of you know, Wendy Crider suffered a major stroke on December 1st.

Luckily, Joe was home with her when she collapsed in their kitchen, and he was able to quickly get her to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

McCurtain Memorial made the decision to transfer Wendy to Plano, where she has remained in ICU since.

Upon arrival in Plano, it was determined that she had suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke, and they had to insert a catheter into Wendy's brain to help relieve pressure and to provide drainage.

Wendy has some paralysis, but she also has some areas where her movement and sensation are slowly returning. She does respond appropriately to Joe at times but has not spoken yet.

It's too early at this point for the physicians to determine how much of the damage may be permanent, or how long Wendy may be hospitalized before she's stable enough to begin the grueling challenge of rehabilitation.

We do have a bit of good news to report: yesterday she passed her swallow test, which is kind of a really big deal, and this morning they removed the drainage catheter from her head!! Baby steps, but it's still progress!

Wendy, Joe, and Jodee need the support of their community and friends more now than at any time in their lives.
