Village Theatre is on the move!
On February 17th and 18th, the popular Atlanta comedy venue Village Theatre will host its final shows at the Pencil Factory Lofts, which has been its home since 2010. After the Pencil Factory Lofts was purchased by a new conglomerate in 2021, we went into negotiations for a new lease with high expectations of improvement to the quality and safety of the building. Instead, the building followed the path of other Atlanta real estate as the price of staying in the space became too high.
However, we won’t let this slow us down. The space has hosted the troupe for 12 years, seeing the cast expand to 120+, shows increase to four nights a week, and festivals draw national talent. Although our current home may be going away, we are already planning a tour of pop-up venues and performances throughout Atlanta for the next 6-12 months while we work on securing a new space. We also will continue our regular classes and corporate workshops during the change, fostering the next generation of comedians in Atlanta. Where do you come in?
We need your help and support! Over the years, Village has been a home for many Atlanta improvisers, actors, comedians, and anyone who just wanted to enjoy live comedy! There’s so much to love and we want this moment to be just that, a moment in the history of Village Theatre, and use this time as a launching pad into our promising future!
Alright enough platitudes, how can you help?
1. Come to our final shows in the Pencil Factory Lofts during the weekend of 2/17 and 2/18!
- There will be laughing and crying and laughcrying (which sounds so much harder than it actually is), but we would love to see your faces and celebrate the accomplishment that is the Village Theatre and the signoff to this space in the best way we know how!
2. Give us some cold hard cash!
- Village Theatre is now a non-profit organization (we got that 501c3 baby!), you can donate* to the sustainment of the company as we transition into our next phase and our new permanent structure!
Your donations will do two things:
1. Keep Village Theatre alive during this transition period. (We will continue to teach and perform live comedy)
2. Help us find and fund our new home!

Any amount of money you can donate will be very much appreciated but we do want to give an opportunity to give back to particularly charitable givers!
Level 1 - $50 donation: ‘Whoa Cool Shirt!’
- T-Shirt(subject to availability) or Handwritten thank you card signed by Village Theatre cast members
Level 2 - $100 donation: ‘Whoa Cool(er) Shirt!’
- Limited Edition “Village Theatre: On the Move” T-Shirt! *Design Pending*
- Will require special order, delivery within 2 months
Level 3 - $150 donation: ‘Yo, is that a Cameo?’
- Card + T-Shirt + Thank You video
- We’ll create a personalized 10 Second Cameo-style from Village performers and posted across our social media channels
Level 4 - $250 donation: ‘I fell in (laugh) with the (improv comedian) at the (improv comedy) show’
- All of the above and two tickets to a future show in the Pencil Factory Lofts space or a Village Theatre pop-up show during transition time
- (PFL shows must be redeemed by 2/18)
Level 5 - $500 Donation: “Shout Out!”
- All of the above and a special shoutout during the final weekend of shows at Decatur Street announcements + recognition in programs produced for VT Pop-Up Shows
Level 6 - $1000 Donation: ‘We Have Reservations'
- All of the above + Season ticket to Village Shows during pop-up tour
- ‘Plus One’ available, subject to venue capacity
Level 7 - $2500 Donation: “It’s Business Time!”
- Designed for our corporate friends: All of the above + a corporate workshop!
- 2 Hour corporate workshop with trained Village Theatre cast members
Level 8 - $5000 Donation: ‘We made the Wall!’
- All of the above and a plaque adorned with your name, will be placed on the ‘Wall of (VT) Heroes’ in the new space
Level 9 - $10000 Donation: ‘I’ll Call It…”
- All of the above(including plaque!) and the bar in the new space will be adorned with your name for five whole years!
Level 10 - $25000 Donation: ‘Place of Highest Honor’
- All of the above(except bar naming rights) and a stage in the new VT Home will be adorned with your name for five whole years!
