At the end of March, Chantelle started feeling lower abdominal pain that gradually got worse. On April 1st she ended up in the emergency room with almost unbearable lower abdominal pain. After multiple ultrasounds and a CT scan, they did a laparoscopic surgery on April 2nd to fix or remove her right ovary but found it to look perfectly healthy. So they let everything be and did a DNC.
They called on the 9th to say that Telle has cancer in her uterus and because of the pain she still had and a cancelation in their schedule, surgery was scheduled for the next day to do a radical hysterectomy. During surgery they also took out any lymph nodes that they could get to that looked suspicious. Oncology found cancer in almost everything they took out. We believe about 85% to 90% of the cancer was removed. There were some lymph nodes that they believe are cancerous but could not safely be removed due to their proximity to vital organs. They diagnosed her with Neuroendocrine large cell cancer. It is a rare and aggressive cancer.
Recovery from surgery has had good days and bad days, but she has progressively gotten weaker and had more pain. They made the decision to go to a cancer treatment center in Mexico, and despite some setbacks, the doors opened up for them to go! Victor and Telle arrived at the treatment center on May 22nd.
Please continue to join us in praying for complete healing for Chantelle, for Victor as he cares for her, and for their boys as they process this huge change in their life. Money raised for them will go towards expenses that are continuing to come in as they navigate this cancer journey.
Updated 6/4/2024 Hey church family, we have a sad update to share about Chantelle Gingerich. On Sunday they left San Diego for home on a private flight, but about 10 minutes into the flight she suffered cardiac arrest. They had to do an emergency landing in Palm Springs, California, where they were able to stabilize her, but she is currently not responsive. The doctors are not giving her a medical chance of waking back up. Please pray for her, and Victor and the boys (who are in Palm Springs as of Monday and have been with them both), as this whole situation has been sudden, constantly changing, and devastating. There are several family members and friends with them in California doing their best to show support and love.
Thanks so much for the prayers and encouragement you've given so far, and please consider giving financially as well, as there have been and will be many expenses to figure out.
