Anybody who has spent time at Bula Kava House knows the strength and importance of the beautiful community that has grown over the last 13 plus years. Chris and Insa have been part of that community for nearly a decade. They met and became friends when Chris was working as a kavatender, and later fell in love. Chris and Insa are kind beyond measure, always happy to offer a kind ear and insight, a laugh, or a clap before your next shell of kava.
Now, Chris and Insa could use our help. In March this year, they embarked on a new adventure by purchasing a home together in North Carolina, where Insa has some family and an art school she was excited to attend. We were sad to see them go, but so excited for their new chapter.
Sadly, last week Hurricane Helene devastated their new home state. Chris and Insa are safe, but there has been damage to their community and home, and they're out of work for the foreseeable future. They could really use a financial cushion to get them through the worst of this, and help them along in the recovery. All funds raised will go directly to Insa and Chris to help them purchase life essentials, and repair damage to their home and property.
After this disaster struck, we questioned why Insa and Chris, who so recently moved away from their home and got settled into their new home would be put through this trial. We think the answer is that they will be needed, and will be an asset to their new community, helping out in any way they can because that's the kind of people they are. Let's take some of that weight off their shoulders.
Bula Kava House in Portland, Oregon is putting this fundraiser together because we know that in a time of need, Insa and Chris would be quick to do the same for any of us. Bula Kava House will match up to $3,500 of any amount raised. We will also take donations in-store. Please donate what you can for these two beautiful souls. Thank you.
