Hi Everyone!

I’m (Angela aka babygoespewpew) starting this GoFundMe on behalf of a beautiful young girl named Savanah (aka pew.pew.princess.0330) and her incredible parents, Katherine and Paul, who have been through every parent’s worst nightmare.

Below is a message directly from her mother, Katherine, who has bravely shared their story:

From Katherine:

This isn’t something I ever imagined writing. But after taking some time to process everything as a family, Paul and I are ready to share what happened to our daughter, Savanah.

On the night of September 10th, 2024, everything changed.

Savanah had an accident in our garage and hit her head three times. Once on a shelf and twice on her Papa’s truck. Somehow, she managed to find me and told me her head was burning. She was in so much pain and sobbing. At first, I thought she might have just pulled a muscle. But when I saw her face, pale as a sheet and pouring sweat, I knew something was seriously wrong.

Within minutes, she became nonverbal and pointed to a spot on her head. When I checked, there was a golf-ball-sized bump that was bleeding. My sister-in-law Samantha came to help, and in those moments, Savanah began having seizures and became unresponsive. Samantha called 911 while I ran to wake Paul.

In the ambulance to RVH, I watched my daughter code. The paramedics brought her back. The trauma team was ready when we arrived, but her seizures would not stop. The doctors made the terrifying decision to put her into a medically induced coma and intubate her.

We were heartbroken, terrified, and in shock.

She was then airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. I flew with her in the helicopter, and Paul and Samantha went home to care for our son Cruz and prepare for the long road ahead.

At Sunnybrook, we learned that Savanah had not only suffered a traumatic brain injury and a brain bleed but that the cause of her fall may have been a stroke.

She remained in a coma for four days. During that time, she lost weight, fought to wake up, and was cared for around the clock by the incredible ICU staff. On the morning of the fifth day, we walked in and saw her awake. She looked at us and said, “Hi Daddy. Hi Mama.” It was a miracle.

She has since endured another hospital stay, and while she is home now, the journey is far from over. She still has the brain bleed, thankfully it is stable, and she has ongoing symptoms from the brain injury, including memory loss and speech challenges. We are attending appointments at Sunnybrook and preparing to travel to London Children’s Hospital for surgeries.

We are so proud of her strength and determination, but the emotional and financial toll has been enormous.

We have had to take time off work, make repeated hospital trips, and adjust our entire lives to support her healing. While we have had loving help from friends and family, we have reached a point where we need to ask for help from the wider community.

If you are able to donate, no matter how small, or share this with others, you will be directly helping Savanah continue her recovery journey. All funds will go toward medical costs, travel, accommodations, therapies, and whatever support she needs to heal fully.

Thank you for reading our story. We are endlessly grateful for your support, love, and prayers.

Sincerely,
Katherine (Savanah’s Mom)
With Paul, Cruz, and all who love her
