Dear Community,
In 2023, we traveled to Africa to film the beautiful Maasai people in Kenya, as part of our film on indigenous cultures around the world – the impacts of colonialism and the beauty and resilience of these cultures. One of our amazing hosts was the powerful Maasai leader Nancy Milanoi, Founder and Director of Naretu Maa located in Esonorua village, Kajiado subcounty.

Nancy is a blessing to her community and to all who have the good fortune of knowing her. Despite a difficult past, she is a generous and tireless beacon of hope who champions the rights of girls, widows and the less fortunate in her Maasai and Kenyan Society.

Now, it is our dear Maasai sister, that needs a lending hand in a time of real need. We recently learned that Nancy has been fighting breast cancer since a 2017 diagnosis. In all the time we have known and worked with her, she has only communicated with us about the needs of her community and never once mentioned her own health struggles.
Evidently, her breast cancer has advanced to stage 3 and she has received medical advise by Nairobi surgeons to go to seek further treatment in India at a hospital where they have successfully treated women in her condition.
Nancy and her community have reached out to us to help them grow her circle of care. Please join us in contributing to support Nancy’s medical journey. ANY donation (no matter how small) carries with it the hope & love along with the serious financial assistance she needs at this time!
Nancy’s response to our campaign:
“Thank you so much my sisters. You are all God send to me. God knows how I badly needed this kind of support. I promise to concentrate on my healing dear ones!”
We would be deeply grateful for any contribution you can make for Nancy… be it financial or in prayer, and preferably both!
Thank you for your generosity! Together, we are uplifting an important leader and a sister in need. Blessings.

With Love & Miracles,
Zaya, Maurizio, Lisa & The SAND Crew
