Join Us to Support Michael's Recovery

It's Robert Flutie, Michael's brother. As many of you may be aware, Michael's car was struck by a Mack truck while Michael, his partner Bryan, and Bryan's mother were driving to the airport in Costa Rica. When you see the pictures of their car, you really can't believe that any of them walked away from that accident, let alone without serious injury.

On Friday, Michael posted a picture on Instagram sharing that they were all okay. What Michael didn't share in that post was that he had developed an infection in his leg that, within 24 hours of that post, had gotten worse—much worse. He was immediately rushed to CIMA Hospital in San Jose, a great hospital with excellent care, and underwent the 1st surgery (of 3) on his leg. The surgery went well, and by all indications, he will recover fully and be back on his feet in 6 to 8 weeks.

Michael's insurance policy from the USA will not cover all of the medical costs and expenses. I've also come to find out that in Costa Rica, when you get hit by a Mack truck, getting covered by the driver's insurance policy is also very limited.

We anticipate his medical care to be more than $100,000, and I am starting this GoFundMe to cover the added costs that are not covered through our family's contributions.

If you know Michael, you know that he is a selfless and generous human with a heart of gold. I've been witness to his generosity with friends, family, and complete strangers, and I am reaching out with this fundraiser with the intention of reducing the financial impact this will have on him.
