Hi, my name is Chance Williams and I need the community's help urgently at this time.
Yesterday, September 17, 2024, my fur baby, a.k.a. my cat Sassy, went and got an ultrasound at Dogs and Cats Emergency and Specialty Vet Facility in Bowie, Maryland, and I was informed that she has a tumor in her ileocecal colic junction, where the small intestine meets the large intestine. They have confirmed that it is cancer. They just don’t know which cancer she has; it can be either lymphoma or carcinoma. She has lost a lot of weight, but she is strong.
What she desperately needs is surgery where they can go inside, remove the tumor, and start chemotherapy. Her prognosis right now is good because she’s stable, but surgery will ultimately be needed because this could save her life and she could live a regular healthy life as well. The surgery runs from $6000-$8000, as well as the cost for chemotherapy, and that treatment can run every other week and cost from $400 to $600.
Of course, with life and being a single parent, I cannot provide that, and that’s when I need assistance from the community, family, church, friends, anybody who knows how important our fur babies mean to us. This cat is not a normal cat, and I know people say that all the time, but this cat has kept my mental health at bay. I found Sassy almost a year and a half after I lost my father, and she helped me regain my faith and has me believing in God again because my heart was broken after unexpectedly losing my father.
Our fur babies tend to heal us because they know when we’re hurting; they know when they need to be by our sides. Right now, I have to comfort her, and as her mother, I will always be there for her, so I’m begging you, please. She came into my life when I thought I didn’t need anybody, but I know my father sent her. If you’re not a friend or family member, then you don’t know the backstory to Sassy. I had a stuffed animal named Sassy when I was a little girl, and I renamed her that because it was from the cat off Homeward Bound. So, I’ve been in love with Sassy even before she came into my life.
If the surgery does not take place, then unfortunately, I would have to put her down, and that is an unbearable pain that I can’t even reckon with at this time. I will fight for her since she cannot speak for herself or fight for herself, so please, if you can find it in your hearts, donate as much as you can. Anything will help at this time. Thank you.
