Join Us to Help Milo Overcome Heartworms

On April 21st, 2025, I found a stray dog wandering alone, clearly in need of help. Despite efforts to locate his original home—including posting on lost and found Facebook pages and even visiting a house where we thought he might belong—we’ve had no luck. Thankfully, my kind neighbor offered to let him stay inside while we search for a forever home. We've taken him to the vet, where he was initially estimated to be about 3–4 years old and he clearly has some fatty bumps and skin irritation going on, especially around his tail. Lots of skin tags as well. But just recently, after a follow-up visit and vaccinations, a different vet estimated him to be closer to 7.5 years old. And today, we received the heartbreaking news that Milo has tested positive for heartworms. We’re doing everything we can to care for him, but treatment is expensive, and we need help covering his medical expenses. Any support—whether through donations or simply sharing his story—means the world as we work to give this sweet dog a second chance at life.
When I first found this dog on April 21st, I had no idea how quickly and deeply I would bond with him. What started as a simple act of compassion has turned into something truly meaningful. Despite everything he’s been through—being lost, possibly abandoned, and now facing a heartworm diagnosis—he’s shown nothing but gentleness, trust, and a quiet resilience that’s hard to put into words. It’s clear he’s been through a lot, but he still chooses to love and trust again. I didn’t expect to become so attached, but now I can’t imagine not fighting for him to have the healthy, happy life he deserves.
