This is Keiji. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Jay.

Jay has worked over 30 years at Kifune restaurant. I've seen the struggles he went through to keep the restaurant alive for many people and especially for all the employees. It was a lot of financial pain and struggle for him to get through the dot-com crash, the housing bubble and banking crash that led to the economic crisis and agonizing recession. In our area, Kifune was the only Japanese restaurant to survive.

Jay has always loved serving people and always treated everyone like family. Sharing many stories with frequenting customers and seeing their children grow up into adulthood, the restaurant became his second home. He cherishes the many memories he has enjoyed with all the wonderful guests and employees.

It has been a labor of love for him to serve customers and employees. He survived many economic downturns and along the way, he has taken on financial debt over the years to keep the restaurant alive.

After retiring from the restaurant, Jay is having health problems. Jay is suffering from a colovesical fistula and surgery is the recommended treatment. He also has the onset of Parkinson’s disease. Margaret, his wife, has become his 24/7 caregiver. His kids has paid off most of the debt but with a lump sum line of credit coming due, extreme rise of interest rates in a short time and now medical bills, he needs help.
