Help Sweet Rescued Pup Get the Medical Care She Deserves

We need your help to give a second chance to the sweetest dog we’ve ever met.

A few days ago, we witnessed something no animal lover ever wants to see—a sweet dog dumped on the side of the road and abandoned. Heartbroken, we stepped in immediately, determined to get her to safety.

We were told by a local shelter that if we could give her a place to sleep for the night, they would take her in the next morning. But when we arrived the next day, the story changed. They had a puppy who had been diagnosed with parvo, and therefore were closed for intakes. They said they could no longer help and advised us to take her to animal control. When we reached out to animal control, we were told she would most likely be euthanized if surrendered there.

We couldn’t let that happen.

So, we brought her back home and set her up in our yard while we made desperate calls—shelters, rescues, fosters—anyone who could help. But every door we knocked on was closed. Meanwhile, this sweet pup—clearly malnourished and covered in fleas—was full of nothing but love. I’d walk outside with food and she’d shake with excitement, trying to decide whether she wanted affection or food more. She was that grateful. I gave her multiple baths to ease the itch from the flea bites, and she never once complained—just wagged her tail with a huge smile like she knew we were trying.

Then, a miracle happened.

Someone my boyfriend knew, who had never owned a dog before, stepped up and offered her a forever home. When they came to meet her, she ran into their arms like she had known them forever and they instantly fell in love. We scheduled her a vet appointment, gave her supplies, and said goodbye, knowing she was finally safe.

But now we’ve hit another hurdle: the vet diagnosed her with heartworm, on top of severely irritated skin from the all flea and tick bites on her body. Her new family is absolutely dedicated to giving her the best life possible—but this treatment is expensive, and it’s an expense they weren’t prepared for.
