A group of neighbors is getting back together the Friends of Temescal Creek! Our goal is to reconnect our community to the creek and watershed we all share, and bring back its incredible natural biodiversity. We think this creek deserves to be known, cared for, and celebrated.

Our first project is revegetating a small section of the Temescal Creek Park through the City of Emeryville's Adopt-a-Spot program. Even though the creek is channelized deep below the park, we can celebrate it and our Oakland/Emeryville ecosystems by bringing back some of the native plant communities that remain in patches and once supported an abundance of insects, birds, and other wildlife. And importantly, we'll do this together as a community through regular volunteer stewardship events.

This GoFundMe will pay for plants, sourced from The Watershed Nursery and other local gardeners and naturalists. Planting day will be Sunday October 11. Every dollar will go to the plants that will bring back our native ecology! (As well as the purchase of a wheeled water tank to make sure the plants get established).

Or come join us! Starting August 9th from 10am to Noon, and repeating every second Sunday of the month, we'll be coming together in Temescal Creek Park to steward this little patch of the creekshed. Our Adopt-a-spot is just to the east of the playground, between the playground and the basketball court.
