Edit: 08/23/25 We came to San Jose funeral homes and we will be cremating my dad. The cost was lower than what we had initially posted. We just want to be transparent and clear with what is being done. We won’t have funeral service as he wished, but we will have a get together for those that want to remember him with his ashes. This will take time due to the process of the cremation. We will call family and friends with details of time and place. Thank you once again. For those that knew my dad, Rick Marquez, "Grandpa," we come to you with very heavy hearts with the news that he has passed away. As I called all his friends from his contact list, they all shared stories and memories of who he was. If you were fortunate enough to experience his funny humor that made him who he was, you can't help but smile from the memories he left us with. You all shared something in common with me from what I learned with the calls made: that he was a great man, which I think was an understatement for me. He was a father, grandpa, and helper when you needed him. If he did that for friends and strangers at times, you can only imagine the man he was to me and the impact he had on my life. I want to thank you all for sharing who he was; in this hard season of our lives, it helps bring smiles and laughs in this hard time. We will keep you updated with services. His desire was not to have any funeral services, but this is something we have to communicate with in us. I will be putting up a GoFundMe account to help my mom with the unforeseen expenses to help cover funeral costs. I would like to thank you all in advance for your generosity and willingness to help. Thank you all once again.
