Help Us Feed Families at Our Springfield High School Art Show!
Description:
At our High School in Springfield, Massachusetts, we believe in the transformative power of the arts to uplift, empower, and connect. Our Annual Spring Art Show is a celebration of student creativity across visual and performing arts—and one of the rare moments where our students get to be seen, heard, and honored by their community. We are hoping to see an attendance of 200-400 students and their families, for a total of approximately 600 people.
But there’s a barrier: many of our students and their families are living in poverty, and something as simple as providing a meal can make the difference between whether they’re able to attend—or not.
We’re raising $1,600 to provide warm pizza, and drinks for families at this year’s show. Our goal is to make this night accessible, welcoming, and dignified for everyone.
Why We Need Your Help:
Springfield is one of the most economically challenged cities in Massachusetts.
• Over 80% of students at our school are classified as low-income, based on state data.
• Nearly 1 in 3 children in Springfield live below the poverty line.
• Most of students at our schools qualify for free lunch, and food insecurity is a persistent issue for many families.
• The student population is over 90% Black and Latino, with many families historically excluded from access to wealth, resources, and arts programming.
• English Language Learners make up over 40% of our student body, and events like this help them feel connected and included.
For many families, attending an evening event is simply not possible when dinner isn’t accounted for. That’s where you come in.
What Your Donation Supports:
• Warm pizza
• Bottled water, juice, and snacks
• Paper goods (plates, cups, napkins, utensils)
• Food delivery, storage, and set-up support
We want this to be a night where every student feels celebrated, and where every guest is fed, welcomed, and seen.
How You Can Help:
• Donate what you can—$40 covers food for 12 people, scholars or their family members
• Share this campaign with local businesses and community members.
• If you’re a restaurant or caterer, consider an in-kind donation—we would love to feature you!
Let’s show our students that their creativity matters—and that our community shows up for them.
Thank you for helping us turn art into celebration, and a school event into a moment of belonging.
1. Pizza Calculation
Each pizza = 40 slices
Each person eats 3 slices
Total slices: 600 × 3 = 1,800 slices
1,800 ÷ 40 = 45 pizzas
Let’s say:
25 pizzas are pepperoni or mushroom → $24 each
20 pizzas are cheese → $22 each
Pizza Cost:
25 × $24 = $600
20 × $22 = $440
Total = $1,040
2. Beverages (Cans only)
1 can per person = 600 cans
24-pack of soda on Amazon ≈ $12
600 ÷ 24 = 25 packs
Drinks Cost:
25 × $12 = $300
3. Dining Supplies (Plates & Napkins only)
Plates (9” paper plates, 600 ct) ≈ $50
Napkins (1,200 count) ≈ $30
Dining Supplies Total = $80
4. Other Supplies (Tablecloths + Trash Bags)
Tablecloths for 60 tables (12-pack × 5) ≈ $100
Trash bags (heavy duty, 50 ct) ≈ $20
Other Supplies = $120
Final Cost Summary
Item Cost
Pizzas $1,040
Canned Drinks $300
Plates & Napkins $80
Tablecloths & Trash $120
Total $1,540
