On June 16, 2025, Tom, some know him by John, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to his liver. Tom will begin his first round of chemotherapy the week of June 30, with long-term care and treatment ahead. The full path forward is still unfolding.
Tom is more than a diagnosis—he’s a devoted husband to my sister, Teal, a loving father to their three boys, Evan, Liam, and Reed, and the kind of man who shows up every day with humor, kindness, and quiet strength. As the primary provider for their family of five, this diagnosis brings not only emotional and physical hardship, but financial uncertainty as well.
Tom is a dedicated hard worker and serves as the Director of facilities maintenance and operations at Mercy Hospital–Jefferson. He has always done whatever it takes to support and protect his family. Now, we have the opportunity to rally around him.
Every donation, prayer, and share helps lift the weight of what’s ahead so Tom and Teal can focus on what matters most—time, hope, and healing.
