Hi,
I'm Aunt Louise. My great-nephew, Zane Kiser, was in a very serious motorcycle accident on Friday, September 6th. Zane lives with his father in London, Kentucky, and is currently admitted at UK Hospital in Lexington. Zane's mother and sister, (Debbie and Marissa DeLuca) reside in Pinellas County, Florida. Debbie and Marissa flew into Lexington yesterday, and I picked them up at the airport, and we were able to see Zane. Currently, Zane is intubated; however, it is on power mode (which means he is breathing on his own) with the ventilator there as back-up just in case. It was just explained to us that on the Glasgow Coma Scale, he is currently rated at a 10. We are seeing some response to pain and stimulus. We are praying that within the next four days he regains full consciousness; this is very important. Zane has had one surgery to repair his tibia. Hopefully, he will have another tomorrow to repair his femur. Then there will be another surgery for his arm. Thus, there will be continued medical treatment and rehabilitation for some time to come.
As you can imagine, this is a nightmare both mentally and physically, not to mention financially. Both Debbie and Marissa are unable to work from Kentucky, seriously curtailing their monetary resources. Lodging, rental car, food, and travel expenses will be ongoing as Zane recovers. I beg of you to help us at this desperate time of need. This family has experienced far too much tragedy, and we need to be here for Zane to have all the support required to heal and return to us as the loving son, brother, and great-nephew that we dearly need.
Zane's family in Kentucky has rallied around Mark and Aunt Tracey (Dad and his sister) and are doing all they can to be supportive at this time. Mark had been at the hospital non-stop; however, he had to return to work today as he now is doing his and Zane's jobs. We have had family members here from South Carolina, and Zane's friends are arriving from Colorado, Missouri, and Florida. Their support and love have been epic, and we thank you all.
