Join us in Supporting Vanessa's Family in Honoring Dane

To the members of the Westside Vineyard community, and beyond:

 

A dear member of our Westside Vineyard community, Vanessa Reynaldo, and her family (three awesome kids in our Vineyard Kids’ Church) have become such unshakable participants in the Vineyard Family. Vanessa has grown tremendously in her faith and strives to join in all ways that she can at church. As her kids’ pastor, I have had the privilege to see them each begin to grow and blossom in their faith. The oldest is about to enter middle school and is starting to ask meaningful and insightful questions. The middle child is finishing up kindergarten and is a ball of energetic joy and a great contributor in our small group time. The youngest is an absolute sweetheart, and beginning to discover that Jesus loves her so much.

 

This family has faced many challenges in their lives. Through it all, Vanessa has led them with great patience, and approached the challenges with grace and resilience. Today, we come to you with the news of an unimaginable tragedy that has befallen them.

 

On Monday, May 21, 2024, Vanessa’s husband Dane, father to her two youngest children and stepfather to her oldest, as well as father to Lily, his adult daughter, suddenly and tragically passed away, leaving Vanessa and the children devastated.

 

Vanessa and Dane have known each other since their teen years. Though they were separated at the time of his death, the two shared a unique bond and deep, enduring friendship. Their commitment to Tyler, Sebastian, and Scarlett remained unwavering as they navigated co-parenting the best they could with mutual respect and understanding.

 

Dane’s passing has left Vanessa to shoulder the emotional and financial burden of arranging his funeral and burial expenses. Despite their separation, Vanessa understands the importance of answering Dane's personal request to be buried, as well as providing closure for Lily, Tyler, Sebastian, and Scarlett, ensuring they have a place to remember their father with love and respect.

In the face of adversity, Vanessa has shown incredible strength. She has been tireless in her pursuit to secure her family’s future, by attending college classes and working part time, striving to pay off debts and create a stable environment for her children. As Dane’s death was so very unexpected, she is not prepared for the high cost of funeral and burial expenses. As her church family, we would like to help.

 

Vanessa and her kids are faithful members of the Westside Vineyard community; and, as a community, we have the power to ease Vanessa’s burden and honor the kids by honoring Dane’s memory in a meaningful way. Let's rally together to support this family as Vanessa continues to be a source of love, strength, and spiritual guidance for her children. Let’s show this amazing family that they are not alone in their time of need by prayerfully considering how we can best support them.
