Hi there! They say that "you never work a day in your life if you love what you do". I think that saying should be broadened to that "you never work a day in your life if you respect and truly enjoy the people that work alongside you". Some may never experience this in life but consider yourself lucky if one day you find yourself a co-worker who not only makes work fun... but who becomes a lifelong friend.
Well, it was almost 20 years ago when I was lucky enough to meet a co-worker just like that in Meagan. Her positive and vivacious attitude made every day at work better and now so many years later our families, and even our pets, have become the best of friends. This is how the Shaffer's and Basoli's first came together. We've supported each other through many years and stages, but now the Shaffer's need some help and we would be so grateful if you would consider contributing to this Go Fund Me for a family that means the world to us.
Over the past several months, the Shaffer's have been dealt a pretty awful hand. After being diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis and spending several weeks in the hospital, our dear friend Dan, Meagan's husband, ended up getting an invasive Ileostomy. Things took an extremely scary turn when he contracted deadly and rapidly advancing necrotizing bacteria during the procedure that ransacked his body and led to multiple additional surgeries. Now, Dan has made a positive turn, and he should be home from the hospital by Christmas (YAY!) if all goes well! But Meagan and Dan are now faced with a long road ahead that will include Meagan taking care of Dan's medical needs at home, a potential additional surgery and ongoing treatment to keep Dan on a path to health.
We are so grateful that Dan is coming home soon, but despite insurance the hospital bills - after 6 surgeries and 8 weeks in the hospital - have stacked up. We would like to help the Shaffer's, so that they can focus on healing and enjoying Christmas with their young daughter and getting back to some sense of normalcy again. To lighten their load this holiday season, can you help? Every little bit will count, and we thank you for considering a donation to this wonderful family!
