After the storm hit and we started to understand what was happening we realized there was so much need. Our pastor was sending us to places where he knew there was need. Plane after plane were landing at our small airport filled with supplies. They were coming from EVERYWHERE. We pulled our truck along with our friends up beside the planes and unloaded it into each truck. A guy at the airport asked me to see if anyone had any medical needs when we got there. We headed out to Open Door Baptist Church in Elk Park. They couldn’t believe all we were bringing and honestly, neither could we. I immediately asked if anyone had any medical needs. Everyone yelled to me “Teresa!”. That moment started an absolutely beautiful friendship with a woman who radiated joy and the love of Jesus.

I was able to go inside with her to understand her need. She had breast cancer and needed her chemo. Through nothing short of a miracle I was able to come back up the hill and we were able to get her what she needed. When I returned with her medications the joy and tears and hugs were overwhelming. I will NEVER forget that moment or the hug I shared with Teresa. Over the coming weeks and months we worked together to support their community. If I didn’t have a reason, I still stopped in just to check on her and get a hug. Even though she was fighting cancer she was almost always there working so hard.

Over the past year she had 8 surgeries, 2 being emergencies during the Christmas and New Years holiday. She returned home 1-4-25 after a 13 day stay. Her body has been through so much and she is exhausted. Much healing needs to occur. She needs 3 additional surgeries but her body is not yet ready. Teresa needs prayers.

Tyler has been by her side from the moment I met her. He has missed work so he could support her and care for her. After missing work due to the storm and the medical bills and needs, I know they need help even though they won’t say it. That mountain pride. I also know they are so loved and that many want to help them. Because of our love for this sweet couple I wanted to set up this GoFundMe so that we can all come together to help them. I know they would appreciate your support and even more, your prayers. Thanks for considering helping them.
