Join Us in Supporting Susie Fuller's War against Cancer

Hi, we, Taylor Douglas, Payton Gall and myself, Shannon Bieber are starting a GoFundMe page for our cousin Susan (Susie) Fuller. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Caner, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, this past April 2024.

Susie is a native to Pierre. She graduated from TF Riggs in 2002. She went on to get her Nursing degree from USD in 2010. Over her career she has worked mainly as a traveling ER nurse. She has traveled the country coast to coast, working in 17 different states even in Alaska!! She settled in Oregon for a handful of years but eventually made her way back home to SD last fall. She lives in Pierre with her best pal, Bentley, a two year old Goldendoodle.

Susie sought medical care immediately upon finding a lump in her breast last spring when it was discovered that she had Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). For those unfamiliar, TNBC is responsible for 10-20% of all breast cancer cases. It is aggressive, fast growing and fast to spread. It has a high reoccurrence rate which requires swift and very aggressive treatment. This is what route she is on-- the AGGRESSIVE one.

The road from April 2024 to August 2024 has been a straight uphill battle, with some victories but a lot of heartache, pain and sickness along the way. Procedures upon procedures, scans upon scans, and oh the rounds of chemo and other medications.

The treatment plan, that her Cancer Care Team came up with, is a plan that will take over a year from beginning to end. It entails, chemo, surgery, and radiation- and so many unknowns and bumps along the way. Some of this can be done locally at the Helmsley Center but a lot has to be performed in Sioux Falls. It all depends on how her body tolerates the treatments, how often her body demands a break from the daily procedures, and how it chooses to respond to the different treatments.

She is nearing the end of her first of two, 12 week, rounds of chemotherapy. After that is completed then surgery, and then on to the final step: radiation. Radiation will be 5 times per week for 6 full weeks in Sioux Falls- once again that aggressive route!

It goes without saying but during this battle Susie has been and will continue to be unable to work. The aggressive route is torture in and of itself. She needs to rest and take care of herself during this fight to be rid of this nasty diagnosis. So, as you can only imagine once the paychecks stop coming the bills add up quickly. We would like for her to not have to worry about finances- just focus on winning this battle.

All funds raised will go directly to Susie for medical bills, travel expenses and cost of living expenses.

Susie did share with me to remind all of you to perform regular breast exams, Get Your Mammograms! All the men reading this-- remind your ladies!! She also wants you all to know that she is deeply appreciative of everything done for her so far, be it sending a card, text, messages on social media, dropping off gifts or smudging and praying for her. It all matters!

Please if at all possible donate to help Susie in her time of need. And please share this GoFundMe site.
