Help Fund Steve Russell’s End Of Life Care

Dear friends and family, my beloved big brother Steve is once again under attack by cancer. He miraculously survived throat cancer 11 years ago, in part because our community banded together and helped keep a roof over his head while his life savings dwindled to nothing under the weight of medical bills. He has since lived on Social Security income and Medicare. Due to previous aggressive treatment, he has no immune system and suffers from neuropathy.

Steve is now facing cancer in his lungs and his pancreas. Medicare barely covers hospital bills, but there is no prescription drug coverage for him.

I humbly ask for your help in covering these additional costs for him. At this writing, Steve is still in the ICU at St. Joe Hospital in South Bend. We’re hoping that he can come home soon and the funds we raise here will allow us to care for him there. Every penny will go directly to Steve and I will oversee the distribution of funds. As a longtime public broadcasting fundraiser, I know the power of community…many small donations pooled together can truly make a tremendous difference.
