The hardest-working man we know, with the biggest heart, warmest smile, and the most helping hands, is now facing his greatest challenge yet. The only thing he loves more than his family is God, and he'd never question a hurdle laid in his path. He'd accept it and put his fate in God's hands, and this next battle will be no different.

Last week, our world turned upside down. We took Poppa Steve to the emergency room for what we thought was severe hernia pain, certain he'd have surgery and that would be it. Instead, a CT scan revealed a mass on his pancreas that had metastasized to his liver. We were all in complete disbelief and devastated.

If you know our family, you know how we roll—we immediately jumped into gear. We started charting a course to understand what comes next and how to get the best help for Poppa. It's still hard to believe how someone as healthy and strong as Poppa Steve could get sick so quickly.

Poppa Steve is selfless; he literally puts everyone's needs before his own. If you call him, he'll come, always with that smile that warms your heart as soon as you see him. He's a helper, plain and simple, no questions asked, and no expectation of anything in return.
