Hi, my name is Jessica Coleman, and I’m one of four daughters lucky enough to call Robert Coleman my dad.

After 40 years of dedicated service working for Howard County Public Schools, my dad is finally retiring. For 45 years, he’s also been a loving husband, and now he proudly holds the title of Pop Pop. He’s the kind of man who gives his all—whether it’s to his job, his family, or his community—and I want to give something meaningful back to him.

My dad has always dreamed of owning his own tow truck. For as long as I can remember, he’s had a passion for finding cars, fixing them up, and spending time around trucks. Driving has been more than just work for him—it’s been a part of who he is.

He’s always put everyone else first, never saying no, never making me feel like I couldn’t reach for something bigger. Whether I was making the right call or learning the hard way, he supported me with quiet strength, honest advice, and an open heart. Throughout my life, anytime my car broke down, needed brakes, or gave me any kind of trouble, he was always the first one to show up—no questions asked. It didn’t matter what time it was or where I was; I could always count on him. Wanting to take more responsibility and be a little more independent, I recently made the switch to an electric vehicle. He’s been incredibly supportive but has interest in getting his electric vehicle technician certification so when I have trouble he can still be the first man I call with my car troubles.

Now that he finally has some time for himself, I want to help him chase a dream that’s been sitting on the back burner for far too long.

That’s why I’m starting this GoFundMe—to raise $15,000 to surprise him at his retirement party to put towards the tow truck he’s always wanted and to register to obtain his electric vehicle certification.

Any amount you can give brings us one step closer to showing him just how appreciated, loved, and deserving he truly is.
