Join Us in Supporting Okevien's Recovery

I'm Lakeena Talford, and my 21-year-old son, Okevien, suffered severe TBI (traumatic brain injury) on Thanksgiving of 2024 due to multiple gunshot wounds. A little info on this senseless act... On Thanksgiving, he went home early to wait on his friends to get ready to go out. While playing video games, he heard a noise downstairs. Apparently, the person (our cousin) was there to rob the house. When approached, the person attacked him and shot him multiple times, walked off, and... CAME BACK and shot him several more times!

Due to this, my son spent three holidays in the ICU at Charlotte's Medical Center. He's now at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, suffering from severe TBI, with right-sided weakness, unable to walk or move his feet and toes. He also has a broken hand with three bones missing and has to have more surgery on it.

I'm requesting this amount because insurance unfortunately just doesn't cut it. He will need home modifications, 24/hr care, and a wheelchair-accessible van/SUV to help with his independence once they discharge him, and medical expenses that are through the roof. My family has been torn apart due to this tragic event, and we're asking for your help to accommodate Okevien with his quality of life.
