Help Mike Silvia Fight Multiple Myeloma – and Support Medical Costs

Dear friends and family:

My name is Beth Norton and I am starting this medical fundraiser for Mike Silvia. A “framily”(friends that become family) member who has recently been diagnosed with Mutiple Myeloma. Mike, Christine and their children, Michaela, Michael, Ryan and Liam have been a huge part of my life for 20 years. The Silvia’s are a family who would provide help and assistance to anyone that needed it and never expect anything in return. They will be needing lots of prayers and some assistance with medical costs.

I am reaching out to ask for your love, support, and generosity as Mike bravely battles multiple myeloma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer that occurs in the bone marrow. As many of you may know Mike was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in November 2024 after complaining of severe back pain that started in August. He began his aggressive chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment in December. Mike and Christine, travel weekly to Dana Farber in Boston for treatments and testing. Mike will undergo approximately 6-8 months of treatment. After the fifth month of infusions, he will have another bone marrow biopsy, if testing shows he has responded well to treatment, his doctors are hoping to be able to collect enough of his own stem cells to process and perform an Autologous transplant.

Once Mike begins the transplant procedure, it will be a long process for him and his family. He will be required to stay in the hospital for approximately 30-60 days. After that time, they will need to stay in the Boston area to be within 30 minutes of the hospital. The stem cell transplant will require a stay for a minimum of 3 months before being able to come home.

Mike continues to show incredible strength, hope, and determination, although Christine and the boys do have to keep him in line.

As Mike is unable to work, this has resulted in a significant loss of income for the family. The costly medical expenses are beginning to add up and as most of you know the medical insurance only covers a portion of the care. They will also need to secure living accommodations within close proximity of the hospital for continued care during the transplant process.

We are setting up this fundraiser to help alleviate some of these financial burdens, for the Silvia’s to be able to focus on what truly matters and that is Mikes healing journey.

The Silvia’s are our “Westport” family and although they were a little reluctant at first to accept any kind of help, they have accepted the offer of setting up this Go Fund me campaign.

How You Can Help

Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward medical bills, treatments, and essential care. If you're unable to donate, we would deeply appreciate it if you could share this campaign with your friends and family. Your support—whether through donations, prayers, or simply spreading the word—means the world to us.

Our Goal

With your help, we aim to raise funds to help cover medical expenses. Every donation brings us one step closer to ensuring Mike receives the best possible care.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey with us. Your kindness, generosity, and encouragement give Mike, Christine, Michaela, Michael, Ryan and Liam the strength to keep fighting and supporting Mike with this difficult journey.

With gratitude,

Beth Norton and the Silvia family
