Join us in supporting Mia’s battle against cervical cancer

In the face of one of life’s toughest battles, my best friend stands with unwavering courage and grace. Her fight against cervical cancer is more than a medical journey—it's a testament to her strength, her resilience, and the light she continues to shine even in the darkest moments. She is not defined by this disease, but by the fierce spirit with which she meets it head-on, inspiring everyone around her with every step she takes. As she focuses on healing, we’re rallying behind her- not just with love and prayers, but with the financial support she needs to ease the burden and give her the space to rest, fight, and recover. Each donation/share is so greatly appreciated. Below is her story.

In November 2024, two weeks before my 27th birthday, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. As some of you may know, I was working down in Florida at the time. The next thing I knew, I was on a flight back to Maryland with no idea how long this interruption to my life would be. As of today, April 18th, I am receiving my third chemotherapy infusion with more to come.

My journey has been tumultuous at best and completely defeating at worst. In the months preceding my diagnosis, I had been going to countless doctor's appointments where my concerns seemed to be falling on deaf ears. It wasn't until I had gone to Florida- symptoms persisting- that I went to a Planned Parenthood for help, where they discovered a large tumor in my cervix. One year prior, my dad was battling an aggressive form of throat cancer. Having to call my parents to inform them of my diagnosis was the hardest phone call I have ever had to make. When I arrived back in Maryland, we contacted my dad's oncologist and began assessing our options for treatment as well as fertility preservation.

For those unfamiliar, a cancer diagnosis can often mean infertility. Being a mother is not something I gave much thought to until my diagnosis, but it made me realize how badly I want it. This was crushing. At a high cost and no assistance from health insurance, the team at Shady Grove Fertility was able to help me preserve my eggs so that one day I may still be able to have a child. With fertility treatment taken care of, we were able to move forward with surgeries and eventually chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy.

While I know now that my life will never look the way I had imagined it would, I still look forward to a long, healthy life. By donating, you are not only helping me with the incredible financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis, but also allowing me the freedom to build a strong foundation for the life I hope to enjoy in recovery. I am incredibly humbled and grateful for the support I have received throughout my journey, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to my story.

* If you can take anything away from my story, feel empowered to advocate for yourself if you feel something is wrong. Had my concerns been taken seriously sooner, I may not be sitting where I am today. If you have avoided medical care because of insurance, just know there are resources to help you. My door is open for anyone who has questions.
