We are excited to announce the creation of this one of a kind outreach for those who are currently struggling with mental health and Suicide.
First and foremost I want to thank you for your time in reading this. I truly know how important time is, and for you to have taken a few minutes to review this really means the world to me
You don’t know me, not yet anyway. My name is Steve Anderson, as well as Wedge Stevens and a few others. A few years ago I went to a movie with a friend of mine. While this event in itself is not significant, what happened in the theatre is. The movie was a Zac Effron movie called “The Greatest Beer Run” in which the main character decides to take guys from his neighborhood beers in Vietnam during the war. A crazy idea at the time for such a small gesture.
I left that theatre thinking to myself, if someone did a small act of kindness that could bring a smile to someone in the middle of such horrible times surely somehow I could do something to help others as well.
You see, I live with several mental issues myself. Currently I have been diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder {Multiple Personalities}, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Clinical Depression, Autism, and a few others. I have also attempted suicide three times, well technically four but I am in the works of reversing that {eating myself to the grave}. I also am a recovering alcoholic, and recovering from self harm.
This movie has spoken to me for years now which led to the launching of this proposal. Over that span of time something has been eating at my mind, heart and soul. Truth be told not a single day passes that this thought does not sneak its way into my mind. This idea is simple but could impact many people in a positive way.
In The next few pages I will answer the most asked questions, for now here is the skinny. The idea is to travel to every major sports arena and get in front of people to talk in a positive way about mental health/ suicide/ and other things. This will occur The for the entire 2027 year. The goal is to create a community, virtual as well as in person, full of testimonials, words of encouragement, and love. Who knows maybe that one day we are in say San Antonio, that could be the one day where someone was thinking of doing harm to themselves and they got a chance to be seen and it changes everything for them.
How can one day change or even save someone? One day you heard a song that resonated with you and now however many years later you can still sing the lyrics. One day you saw a movie and a scene flew past you that now can be quoted to the letter. One day a patron just happened to be going into a stadium and saw a table where they were giving out t-shirts and was allowed to tell how their daughter killed herself, and she keeps coming to games because her daughter loved basketball. Maybe a dad sees the table and shares how his son would watch the Packers game with him, but his son was killed in a car crash and the Packers games helped him cope. Maybe someone somewhere needs to hear those stories and because we showed up and recorded them they are able to see them. Maybe all someone has is words of encouragement to offer…those are important too.
This is bigger than coming to a game and setting up a table to give away stuff and record messages. This is about helping others, remembering those who are gone, loving anyone who needs a shoulder, and saying keep going. That's all I want to do is help others get through the fire. My dream is to one day host a charity based late night talk show. I'm not doing that…but this, showing up, recording messages and spreading hope. With your help…that I can do.

WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?
Team up 4 l;fe is a mental health/ suicide prevention project that will begin the 1st of January 2027 and conclude December 31st 2027. This project will see a representative{Steve Anderson} of the project travel to every major athletic team ,and baseball's minor league affiliates, to help bring awareness to this ongoing struggle for many affected. It will also be a way for friends, family members, and others to remember those who may have taken their lives in a loving caring way by remembering the person, not the action. Most importantly this will build a community of people who can help each other indirectly by sharing memories, testimonials, words of encouragement, or whatever leads them through video recordings that will be shared either directly on our website or through youtube, perhaps even Tik Tok or Reels. The hope is to also build a spotify channel as well as posting clips of shows in a podcast format. Anything we can do to reach those who are currently struggling we are open to trying. Another resource that is being offered is a book being written by Steve telling, not only their story, but also talking about the tools they utilised to that helped them get to a place where taking their own life was no longer an option. The goal is to reach as many people as possible to try and save as many as possible from believing they are not alone and that there is hope. We also hope to raise enough money that we will be able to give away t-shirts, digital books, and anything else that would be deemed as helpful to our cause. The people at 988 have agreed to help in part by at least allowing us to use the 988 logo. We want everyone to know they are not alone, they can talk to someone. It may be possible to have people from 988 as well as other organizations including but not limited to veterans outreaches, pet adoption agencies, and any other organization that can help in a meaningful way. So far our target organizations would include The Til Valhalla Project, as well as The Humane Society. There will be others added to the list.

HOW DO WE HOPE TO DO THIS?

Over the course of the next few months we will be looking through schedules of MLB, NBA, NHL,NFL, WNBA, UFC,MILB,AEW and WWE. We selected the day of 1st of January 2027 as a starting date for the project. With permission we would set up a location at the venue to just talk with people about mental health issues, allow some to be recorded while talking about their own struggles, or share stories of those who attempted to/took their own life in a way that is touching but also remindful that even if you feel all hope is lost, that as long as you are alive things can/will turn around. One aspect of this is that it's hard to feel like someone is truly there when you just hear them tell you to call this number. It's much different when someone shows up to a location and you can talk to them face to face. From there we will make a schedule and post it on our website teamup4life.org for future locations and opportunities to engage with the public.

WHY IS THIS FORMAT?

To quote a famous mermaid “ We want to go where the people are.” It sounds corny but there is a lot of truth in it. Sports is important to a wide array of people from veterans, to kids, from white collar business people to blue collar factory line workers. Sports impacts us on a deep level and allows us to connect, bond, or even push away from people just because of a jersey they wear. it truth sports is one of the fastest ways to build a community of people who have at least one thing in common. Millions of people attend events all year round. You never know which one of them is hurting on a level they can’t talk about. By doing this we can give them a chance to do so, or at least let them know someone cares. Warren Barfield wrote a song called “My Heart Goes Out”, which touches on this very topic…do you reach out and say something or do you stand by and let them go? We want as many people to know that its ok to rewach out when your hurting. its not weakness but a lot of courage and strength to say "I can't go on, I'm hurting."In the words of Bob Proctor “No one does life on their own. There is always someone who helps along the way.”
The author of this paper was told many times to rub some dirt on it, or pain doesn’t hurt. Crying is for pansies- which makes talking about these things hard. The irony here is that many people join sports teams to feel a bond with other people, to connect to a cause bigger than just ourselves, to belong. Being a fan of a team often gives you an instant bond with others wearing the same colors even if it’s just for a second. With this project we can create an international community that can stand together for years. All we have to do is just show up and allow it to happen.

What Inspired This Idea?
This idea came to pass in a strangely silly way. It is because of a Zach Efron movie called “The Greatest Beer Run” in which the main character decides to take his friends in Vietnam a beer during the war after being ridiculed at his local bar. The story of doing such a simple thing that can bring so much good got implanted in the mind of the author of this paper and it would not leave, that was three years ago.

What would the sports team need to do for you?

This is a fairly easy question to answer, but could go many directions. At the very least just allow us to come to the venue. Preferably would be close to a busy door to get exposure, but not so close that the recording equipment could be compromised by loud noises from P.A. systems and such. For most venues just outside the doors would be great because you catch people coming in but the doors would deaden the sound of the P.A. system and such allowing us to record fairly uncompromised.
Beyond that nothing is really required. Anything above and beyond that is always greatly appreciated. We are willing to help out any way we can. We know that the big organizations have resources available so we would be willing to share our logos for the project, shirt designs or whatever for their use however they see fit.

Are you involved with any religious organizations?

NO. there is no connection between us and any religious organizations. There have been Christian Musical Artists who have been kind enough to allow us to add songs from them on our playlist to be shared. That is the extent of any religious connection.

How are you going to pay for this project?
Sadly we are not financially free. A crowd source will be set up to receive donations from those who feel this project is a good and noble one. We have selected GoFund me based on a few factors, the biggest being their willingness to get involved, as well as branding and integrity. So far they have been very receptive and helpful on how to build interest in this project once it goes live. Our fundraiser will go live on 15 July 2027 and will close at the very latest 31 October 2027. During that period we will have secured web domains, concluded fundraising, and reached out to teams to begin the research into their interest in helping out.

Why is a playlist important?
When someone is wanting to lose weight they begin to change their routines, start working out, get on apps and other tools that help them count calories or whatever. They also begin to watch what they eat, or put in their body. Most of us never think about what we put into our mental bodies. There are so many songs that promote self medicating using drugs or alcohol, or partying, or bringing us down when we are heart broken. Music is such a powerful thing. We feel it is critical to create a source of music{and comedy pieces} from various artists that bring positivity and help when someone feels lost. Most of the artists on the playlist many have not heard of, but they are impactful.

Why is this project important to us?

This is an extremely deep project for the author of this paper. In a quick synopsis- the author of this paper was recently labeled as disabled after being diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder {Split Personalities}, Borderline Personality Disorder {severe impacts in the ability to regulate ones emotions/thoughts}, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, clinical depression, as well as autistic, a recovering alcholic, recovering sex addict, 3 time suicide attempter, and was recently diagnosed with symptoms of early onset dimentia. Some of these diagnoses happened many years ago while some are fairly recent. Mental Helath and Suicide awareness is something that we can talk about in a personal honest way that hopefully will allow outhers to do the same. Also the author has known a few people who sadly decided to end their own lives, most times to the complete shock of everyone around them. With this project we hope to allow people to feel safe enough to reach out whether in person or alone by calling 988, or any other resource.

What is the budget required for this to happen?

In truth the answer to this is extremely vague. Obviously the more money we raise the more we can do. More money means more shirts we can make, or printing actual books, or helping others adopt animals, as well as acquiring merchandise from the Valhalla Project, or whatever we can do to help others. We will include a complete breakdown of all foreseen expenses and will 20 percent to cover what we did not think about. It should be noted that 15 percent of whatever is raised will be given to the representative for their own personal expenses while doing the project. This will be laid out in the budget as well. Without them the project does not happen.

We wish to thank you for your time in reading this and welcome you to reach out with any questions you may have about this project. We hope that we can make this happen to reach many lives and help those who need it. We are all in this together. Included will be a budget outline, a schedule will be provided for 2027, project logo as well as preliminary shirt designs {we have not completed the WWE shirts but will be similar to the others} Thank you again for your time. You are appreciated.
